The Larabanga Mosque, built in 1421 is the oldest mosque in Ghana and one of the oldest in West Africa. Legends say a trader named a Ayub had a dream while staying near a “Mystic Stone” in Larabanga to build a mosque. Strangely, he woke up to find already laid foundations so he proceeded to construct and finish building it.
